When selecting syringes, consider the two main characteristics:
- Gauge: Syringes vary from 28 gauge to 30 gauge (30 being the thinnest). 30 gauge syringes are only available in short length and should only be used with your doctor's approval.
- Syringe barrels: Barrels are available in 3/10 cc (they hold up to 30 units), 1/2 cc (they hold up to 50 units), and 1 cc (they hold up to 100 units). Select the right size based upon the number of units taken at one time. This allows for ease in measuring units.
